Happy days

Oh how the sun can make us all smile, can you believe that it is October tomorrow! From the top of the hill it feels like the start of summer not the end.

From the name of this bog you may gather that I love flowers, roses and dahlias are just two of my favorites. I could list endlessly the different flowers throughout the seasons that I adore. Whatever I grow from seeds or plant out there needs to be able to be used as a cut flower as I love bringing them into the house.

Unfortunately the garden has been looking slightly(!) overgrown, due to the rain that we have had and the lack of enthusiasm I have had. But today I have gone out with the intention of bring a bit of the garden in,

and was amazed to find                                   fantastic pinks

giant purples

and the wonderful colour of these

and then I found this magnificent beauty

It is picture perfect, deep red with that wonderful yolk.

Dahlias are just so wonderful as cut flowers and make me smile every time I see them, I'm amazed that most of these have come from seeds.  Maybe I should ignore the garden more often!

I also managed to snip a bunch of cosmos for the table

Well enough of my ramblings, it now time to tackle the weeds that have also blossomed and are threatening to takeover!

Late starter

Several months ago I started a Hexagon blanket from the lovely Lucy at Attic 24, I was soo excited but then got distracted by several other smaller project. And now I am left with this

A pile of wonderful starts.

So, I think that I should join in with Gingerbread Girl's One A Day and move these on to a wonderful blanket.

Only doing one a day makes it so much more manageable,  I just hope it's not to late to jump in.

Back to basics

Today has been a day for me to fiddle and play with the layout of this page. My head is filled with so many ideas but first I need to make sure it feels right which I think I've done. After hours of playing with fonts I'm sure I've gone back to one from the beginning!

So to keep the boys happy and keep their advice cheerful I made a quick batch of cupcakes.

These are Strawberry Cheesecake cupcakes from the Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook, first time we have tried these but everything else from the book has always been a success.

Now for a nice cup of tea and one of those cakes if there are any left!
